    Peach Cottage Cheese Smoothie

    Jump to Recipe

You don’t have to be obsessed with peaches OR cottage cheese to fall in love with this peach smoothie. My husband who rarely eats both peaches or cottage cheese said this is the best smoothie he’s ever had, and he’s had a fair few! You honestly can’t taste the cottage cheese, but it’s secretly giving you a protein fix to help you through to your next meal.

Peach Cottage Cheese Smoothie showing one adult serving and one child serving

The recipe will make two medium OR one large adult size glass and one half-size or child size glass. So when I make this for all of us, I double the quantities which gives my husband and I each a large glass and then half glasses for our two kids. When I make this just for myself, I make a large glass and with the extra half glass I add 2 tablespoons of Chia seeds, leave it in the fridge for the afternoon or the next day and I have myself a delicious Chia seed pudding.

If you have a toddler or weaning baby and are wondering how to adapt this Peach Cottage Cheese Smoothie for your family, see here >

You’ll love this recipe because it:

    • Only uses a few ingredients
    • Gives you a natural protein boost, one medium glass as 13g of protein
    • Can easily be scaled up to make more smoothies for the whole family
    • If you just want one glass for yourself, you’ll have an extra half glass to spare which you can add 2 tablespoons of Chia seeds to make yourself a delicious peach Chia seed pudding (leave to chill for at least 3 hours first).

The Stars of my Peach Cottage Cheese Smoothie

    The Peaches

Go for two 412g / 14.5oz (or thereabouts) tins of peach slices in natural juice. You should be able to get no sugar added ones. If not, you may want to only add some of the honey/agave to the smoothie, instead of the full 2 tablespoons.

    The Cottage Cheese

To get the most protein from the cottage cheese, you’ll want to stick with the full fat version!

FAQ’s For My Peach Cottage Cheese Smoothie

The recipe is for two glasses, what size glasses though?

This recipe actually makes two medium size glasses, or one large and one small child size glass.

I’d like to make just a large glass for myself, can I do that?

If you are after just one large glass, you can use the small glass amount to make a healthy chai seed pudding by adding 2 tablespoons of chai seeds, mixing well and refrigerating for at least 3 hours.

Can I make this Peach Cottage Cheese Smoothie for more people?

Yes, just use the scale up buttons top right of the ingredients list. When I make this for all of us, I double the quantities which gives my husband and I a large glass each and then 2 small glasses for our two kids.

How much protein is in one glass of Peach Cottage Cheese Smoothie?

There is 13g of protein in one medium glass. That’s so long as you use full fat cottage cheese, and not low or no fat (as they contain less protein).

Will my blender be strong enough to blend frozen peaches?

If you have a relatively new blender thats powerful, it should work fine. If you have one with a specific ice crushing function, like my Ninja blender, even better as that’s designed for blending ice or frozen fruits.

Can I freeze more peaches to make the smoothie whenever I want?

If you want to be able to make this smoothie whenever you like, I recommend you chop the peaches and freeze in batches. I like to do this by putting a piece of baking paper in a large food bag and adding the chopped peaches in an even layer and then freeze that flat (see video). You can freeze multiple batches at a time in different bags. You’ll also need to freeze the juice too however, which you can freeze in small food containers, again in the right amount you need. However, you will need to remember to defrost the juice in the fridge overnight.

Is this Peach Cottage Cheese Smoothie Suitable for Babies or Toddlers?

If you omit the honey or agave this smoothie will be suitable for under 12 months. Otherwise, as it is, it’s suitable for 12 months +. This Peach Smoothie would be great as little ice lollies/popsicles for toddlers in the summer.

How can younger children help make it?

They can help you add all the ingredients to the blender and turn it on with you supervision.

Can I Store Peach Cottage Cheese Smoothie leftovers?

I would advise not to store leftovers as a smoothie, purely for taste reasons, but instead to make chai seed pudding with it. As mentioned above, add 2 tablespoons of chai seeds to a small glass of smoothie, mix well and refrigerate for at least 3 hours.

    Servings 2 glasses

    Ingredients

    • 2 x 412 g tin peaches in juice,
    • 90 ml of the tinned peach juice reserved
    • 120 ml cup milk, I use semi skimmed
    • 130 g cottage cheese
    • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 2 tbps honey or agave
Prevent your screen from going dark

    Instructions

    Preparing your peaches

    • At least 3 hours before you want to make this smoothie, or the day before, drain your tinned peaches into a sieve over a large jug. Reserve 90ml / ⅓ cup + 1 tablespoon of the peach juice and discard the rest. Store the juice in an small airtight food container in the fridge until you are ready to make your smoothie.
    • Cut your peach slices in half. I like to then freeze them in a large food bag lined with a sheet of baking paper (see video near top of page). You’ll want to freeze them in an even layer with gaps so the blender can handle them more easily. Freeze for a minimum of 3 hours or overnight.

    Making your smoothie

    • Add the frozen peaches, peach juice, milk, honey or agave, vanilla extract and cottage cheese to a good blender (one that can deal with frozen fruits or has an ice crush function). Blend on max or crush until smooth. If the peaches get stuck at any point turn machine off and use a spatula to dislodge any stuck pieces. When done, pour into glasses and serve immediately as is or with a peach slice and or a sprinkle of chai seeds on the top.

      Notes

      Serving notes

These quantities will make two medium glasses OR one adult size large glass and one small child size serving. So to make enough for the whole family, you would double the recipe by using the scale up buttons top right of ingredients. See Chia seed pudding section below if you only want one adult size glass and a chai seed pudding.

      Tinned Peaches

If you can’t find tinned peaches in exactly that quantity, you can use cans that contain a little more or a little less peach slices.

      Chai Seed Pudding

If you only want one adult size glass, with the extra leftover you could add 2 tbsps of Chia seeds and leave in the fridge for at least three hours, or overnight, to make a delicious Chia seed pudding.

Freezing Peaches & Juice in Advance

If you want to be able to make this smoothie whenever you like, you can chop and freeze the peaches in batches in different food bags. You’ll also need to freeze the juice - which you can freeze in small food containers. You will need to remember to defrost the juice in the fridge in advance though.

      Baby & Toddler

Suitable from 12 months + as is. If you make it without honey or agave, it will be suitable for younger babies - you could use this mixture to make little ice lollies / popsicles.
