Brioche Bread Croutons (Oven & Air Fryer)

    Jump to Recipe

I’ve always loved adding croutons to a leafy salad, but a few years ago I decided to make them with brioche bread instead of regular bread, and I’ve never looked back! Using brioche gives you a lighter and sweeter (but not too sweet!) crouton.

Brioche Bread Croutons - family recipes

I’ve kept the recipe super simple, with just 3 ingredients, these brioche croutons really don’t need any additional seasonings like herbs. You can bake them in the oven in 10 minutes, or the air fryer in just 5!

One of my all time favourite salad’s is the classic Caesar Salad, which I love to make with home cooked chicken tenders and these Brioche Bread Croutons. And if you happen to like savoury salads with fruit in them, honestly you have to try topping them with these Brioche Bread Croutons ASAP, as the sweetness makes them a match made in heaven.

FAQ’s For My Brioche Bread Croutons

Can I use a pre-sliced loaf of brioche bread?

I always use a unsliced brioche loaf, but you can use a pre-sliced loaf too. If the slices are thinner than ½ inch, you’ll end up with smaller croutons and so you’ll need to adjust the timings accordingly as they will cook quicker.

Is it ok to use stale brioche?

Yes that’s totally fine, just give the bread a check for mould first and discard if you find any.

Do I need to make these croutons in advance?

It’s a good idea to make these croutons earlier on in the day or days before you want to use them, as when they are first cooked they will be warm and softer. Once cooled completely, they will harden up and be ready to use.

Can I feed more people with this recipe?

Whether you want to have a supply on hand for salads over a time period of a couple of weeks, or you are entertaining a large crowd, you can certainly turn the whole brioche loaf into croutons.

Can I Store Brioche Bread Croutons leftovers?

You can store any Brioche Bread Croutons leftovers in an air-tight container or resealable food bag at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. Make sure that you allow the croutons to cool completely before storing in a food bag or box as moisture will cause them to go mouldy quicker.

What diets is this recipe suitable for?

My Brioche Bread Croutons are suitable for vegetarians and are nut free.
